We were trated to a very animated stage 6 yesterday with numerous attacks and counter-attacks. The windy conditions were favourable for breakaways, with a crosswind at the start, a strong haedwind going south and a tailwind all the way back. The peloton was swerving left and right on the road and many riders broke away or bridge gaps to join existing breakaways. Instead of chasing down all breakaways, the US National team decided to jump inthem, leaving the chase to other teams. Even brown jersey (GC leader) Taylor Eisenhart was part of a lenghty break. However, when Team USA decided enough was enough, all breakaways were caught on the first lap of the finishing circuit. In a massive sprint, Canadian sprinter Brian Etlz placed first, in front of Miguel Byron from USA development selection A and Elliot Doyle from the Quebec team.
With the bonus time, Etlz has now broken up the American supremacy in the GC with a 4th place. Today, it is the last chance for Evan Hartig and Yohan Patry to try to do the same. The brown jersey is probably not in jeopardy, but positions 4 to 9 will be at stake in the GC. In the best youg rider classification, Evan Hartig has a chance to jump ahead of Logan Owen and Geoffrey Curren, both from the USA National team.
There was a lot of action in the VIP room yesterday night as well. There is a rumor about tricks beign played out. Rumors...
